Catch Your Queer Muse at Glainne Retreat Andalucia

Have you been chasing your creative muse around the proverbial garden lately? Banging your head against writer’s block? Unable to put thought into form on paper, pot, or picture? Well, nothing inspires more than connecting with community and a change of scenery.

From January 11–17, 2026, Glainne Retreat Andalucía is inviting thirty budding gay artists to a gorgeous Moorish palace in the mountains of southern Spain. Seven creative powerhouses — Paul Burston, Jonathan D. Katz, Alim Kheraj, Fernando López, Roberto Lugo, David McAlmont, and Colin Seymour (Drag Race’s Crystal) — will lead a week of workshops, classes, and activities designed to inspire.

There’ll be ceramics sessions, writing classes, dance-based practice, collaborative art, and conversations exploring sexuality, masculine expression, and the influence of technology on art. To add some Spanish spice, the week features cultural events like flamenco performances, a “Sangria Siesta,” and a closing Masquerade Gala — all as fun as they sound.

Cast a wider net with a little help from kindred spirits, and catch that ever-elusive muse at Glainne Retreat Andalucía.

Castles, Community and Unfettered Queer Creativity

A lot of history/herstory through the ages has gone down in castles, and Glainne Retreat Andalucía is the perfect setting for a 2026 queer creative reconnaissance.

The renovated Moorish palace, perched high in the mountains of Andalusia, is Spanish beauty incarnate — home to stone-arched courtyards, grand dining areas and workspaces, lush terraces, and bedrooms boasting balconies with sweeping views. Seamlessly blending heritage-castle ambiance with refined modern comforts, it’s the ideal creative retreat setting for connection, inspiration, and renewal.

Accommodation, meals, workshops, materials, and performances are all included, and the event is open to all gay men and allies seeking art, reflection, and connection — whether you come solo or with a partner. The seven facilitators each bring something exciting to the table for their events. However you best express yourself — in clay, writing, music, or performance — you’ll find workshops tailored for you and the guidance you need to see your own artistic journey through to fruition at Glainne Retreat Andalucía.
