Glainne Retreat Andalucia: Where Queer Art Meets the Spanish Sun

Expressing yourself through art is the ultimate therapy. So is the connection made through community. Oh, and staying in a gorgeous Moorish palace up in the Spanish mountains does wonders to lift the spirits, too! Experience all of this from January 11–17, 2026, at Glainne Retreat in Andalusia, where thirty budding gay artists will gather in southern Spain for a full week of creative expression.

An exciting array of workshops will be offered at the retreat (read more below), each designed to be reflective, creative, and communal — helping you express yourself fully through your art. Every session will be led by a gifted gay artist and/or scholar, including Paul Burston, Jonathan D. Katz, Alim Kheraj, Fernando López, Roberto Lugo, David McAlmont, and Colin Seymour — also known as Drag Race superstar Crystal. Daily cultural events will add some Spanish fuego into the mix through flamenco shows and themed balls under the stars.

Glainne Retreat in Andalusia is all about queer joy, finding community and unfettered self-expression. And there’s nothing more therapeutic than that,

Find Your Muse Among the Mountains of Andalusia

Whether your distinctive form of self-expression is rooted in clay, writing, music, or performance, you’ll find workshops tailored for you at the Glainne Retreat.

Some highlights of the week include Masculinity in Motion — a flamenco-inspired movement workshop that unpacks masculinity in the body during a sweaty, laughter-filled session led by Fernando López. Mask Memory with Roberto Lugo uses clay to explore the masks we all wear and the ways we present ourselves to the world as queer men. There will also be an exploration of using glamour, gender, and provocation to tell stories through performance and conversation in Colin Seymour’s The Art of Subversion workshop. And Archive of Us is a group exhibit created by all participants and facilitators, expressing who you are — and who you want to be.

Alongside the workshops, you’ll also enjoy a range of Spanish-style cultural events, such as flamenco performances, the “Sangria Siesta,” and the Masquerade Gala — a joyous closing ritual of masks, music, and feasting. So, go where you belong, manifest your art without limits, and become the man you wish to be at Glainne Retreat in Andalusia.
