Connect without Compromise at the Glainne Retreat in Andalusia Spain
Passion breeds creativity. And there’s nowhere in the world where you’ll find more passion than in Andalusia, Southern Spain. From 11–17 January 2026, Glainne Retreat is inviting thirty lucky participants for a week of queer minds coming together to share their passion for all things creative in a beautifully restored Moorish palace nestled in the hills near Málaga.
Workshops designed to get those creative juices flowing and help attendees connect will be led by seven renowned LGBTQ+ artists and scholars: Paul Burston, Jonathan D. Katz, Alim Kheraj, Fernando López, Roberto Lugo, David McAlmont, and Colin Seymour — also known as Drag Race superstar Crystal! Whether your art is rooted in clay, writing, or dance, you’ll find workshops tailored for you, as well as daily cultural events that expertly weave Spanish tradition with art and joy through flamenco, balls under the stars, and just perhaps just a splash of sangria.
Because when Spanish passion meets queer community, creativity doesn’t just flourish — it ignites.

Queer Minds Think Alike
The facilitators at Glainne Retreat in Andalusia are an eclectic cast of queer characters who bring joy, originality, and an infectious passion to their respective art forms.
Paul Burston is an author, journalist, and the founder of the Polari Prize; Jonathan D. Katz is an art historian and curator of landmark queer exhibitions; and Alim Kheraj is a writer and cultural critic who explores identity, belonging, and modern masculinity in his work. Fernando López is a flamenco choreographer and a scholar of identity expressed through movement. Roberto Lugo is a (quite literally) mold-breaking ceramic artist and activist, David McAlmont a singer, songwriter, and cultural historian, and Colin Seymour a performance artist whose alter ego is none other than drag race superstar Crystal!
Under the guidance of these inspiring visionaries, you can expect everything from lively dialogues on queer identity and participant-led performances to hands-on ceramic classes and collaborative writing workshops. But most importantly, the Glainne Retreat is an opportunity for you to express who you are and your journey.
As queer people, we owe it to each other to tell our stories through art. So, come and tell yours from 11–17 January 2026, at Glainne Retreat!
