This November, Glainne brings a small group of gay men together in Lisbon for a hosted cultural weekend built around conversation, shared meals, art, and time in one of Europe’s most atmospheric cities.

The Lisbon Salon is not a standard group tour, conference, or retreat. It is a thoughtfully planned weekend for travelers who want more than sightseeing alone. Over three days, guests will stay at a boutique hotel in central Lisbon, join guided conversations with invited cultural contributors, share meals together, and have time to experience the city at their own pace.

The weekend begins on Friday afternoon with arrival and check-in, followed by a welcome gathering hosted by musician and host David McAlmont. That evening, the group comes together for a welcome dinner, giving guests a relaxed way to meet and settle into the weekend.

Saturday is the main day of the Salon. The program includes guided sessions led by writers Paul Burston and Paul McVeigh, exploring memory, identity, and the places that shape a person’s sense of belonging. Guests will also take part in a collaborative creative session with ceramicist and guest artist Ebrahim ElMoly, contributing to a shared artwork that develops across the weekend.

Between sessions, there is time for lunch, rest, informal connection, and independent exploring. The evening ends with a closing dinner, followed by an optional late-night visit to Finalemente, one of Lisbon’s well-known queer nightlife venues.

On Sunday morning, the group gathers for breakfast and the unveiling of the collaborative artwork and written reflections before departures begin late morning.

Lisbon is a natural setting for this kind of gathering. Its historic neighborhoods, tiled streets, viewpoints, cafés, cultural spaces, and slower pace create the right backdrop for a weekend that balances structure with freedom.

This is not about rushing through a checklist of attractions. It is about experiencing Lisbon through conversation, food, culture, and shared time with a small group of like-minded travelers.

The Lisbon Salon includes boutique hotel accommodation in central Lisbon, all meals during the Salon, hosted gatherings, guided conversations, cultural sessions, and the full weekend program from Friday afternoon through Sunday late morning.

For guests arriving early, Glainne will also offer an optional walking experience focused on Lisbon’s layered queer history, available separately.

You do not need to come with a friend or partner. Many guests attend experiences like this on their own. The weekend is designed to make it easy to arrive solo, join the group naturally, and take part without pressure.
