Berkeley is like a breath of fresh air: a small city with a big personality and plenty of unconditional love to give, especially to LGBTQ+ visitors. On August 30th, it plans to let all that love show during its second annual Pride celebration. Berkeley Pride strikes a perfect balance between old-school and new-school Pride: local, political, and community-led, but still wild, loud, and fun. It’s sexy but also smart, just as you’d expect from the city that is home to UC Berkeley.

This year’s theme, “From Joy to Justice,” reflects a celebration rooted in LGBTQIA+ and QTBIMPOC resilience, creativity, history, culture, and power. Hosted by Pacific Center for Human Growth, the free event brings together local organizations, artists, students, families, and community leaders. Expect live performances, vendors, resource booths, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to connect with the diverse cast of characters shaping queer life in the East Bay.
